Visit the delightfully picturesque Observatory Hill with its majestic bridge and harbour views. Descend to the harbour and stand under the majestic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Experience the energy and beauty of the Quay before taking in the full Sydney Harbour panorama from the Opera House and harbour foreshore. 

This is an approximate 4.5km walk depending on individual or group interests. We walk comfortably, allowing time to share stories, take photos and connect to special places.

 

There are some moderate gradients and steps as The Rocks precinct is somewhat hilly.

  • Cadman's Cottage

  • The Rocks -  experience the hidden laneways, precincts and passages of this early part of the colony

  • Foundation Park -  see the lost cottages and ruins of early times 

  • Observatory Hill and the old Sydney Observatory -  the best 'secret view" in Sydney?

  • Dawes Point

  • Circular Quay and the Customs House

  • Macquarie Place

  • Sydney Opera House and Man o' War steps

  • Optional depending on time -  return via Tarpien Steps and the delightful gardens adjoining Government House.

  • Optional stop as part of the total tour time on request at a local hotel or cafe for beer/wine/tea/coffee at your expense.

 

 

What to bring

  • Please bring water, a hat, comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothes. 

Meeting point

This walk commences and finishes at Cadmans's Cottage opposite the International Passenger Terminal. The meeting point is on the eastern forecourt, not George Street.
